Get ready for a fun-filled celebration of all things Kiwi at the Val Deakin Dance Theatre’s upcoming programme, As Kiwi As! This lively production will take to the stage at the Dance Centre:
September Friday 18th at 10:30am and 6:00pm
Saturday the 19th at 2:00pm and 6:00pm
Sunday the 20th at 2:00pm
Opening the programme is Val Deakin’s much-loved Forever Bubbles — a heartwarming journey into the lives of New Zealand women in the 1920s, 30s, and 40s. With the music, fashion, and household inventions of the era, this nostalgic piece explores what has changed over the years… and what has stayed so familiar! A true feel-good favourite.
A special excerpt from Flashback, also choreographed by Val, brings her charming Oamaru set Edwardian-era piece into the present day with a modern twist.
Adding plenty of laughs and Kiwi spirit, Christchurch choreographer Fleur de Thier’s new work Ka Pai celebrates the quirks and humour of rural New Zealand life. Featuring familiar music and plenty of fun, it’s sure to have audiences chuckling — and maybe even joining in!
Tickets go on sale in September at the url below.
